REALM is Maroondah City Council’s new $24 million state-of-the-art facility which houses:

  • the library, incorporating areas to engage children and young people;
  • Council's Customer Service Centre;
  • the Centre for Regional Knowledge and Innovation – including a business resource hub;
  • a café featuring reading spaces and a magazine and newspaper collection; and
  • ArtSpace with several display spaces throughout the facility.


REALM is the centrepiece of the new Ringwood Town Square precinct – the facility interacts with open air gathering spaces, cafes and retail shops and is located across the road from the upgraded Ringwood Station.


Join ArtSpace Curator, Lisa Byrne and Maroondah City Council’s REALM Manager, Chris Zidak for a tour of the new ArtSpace and the exhibition spaces at REALM and a discussion of the impact of co-location for the ArtSpace.  Participants are invited to continue the conversation over lunch at 400 Gradi - East.


Cost: FREE, with participants responsible for their own lunch costs.

What's on at ArtSpace

R & M McGivern Prize – a $25,000 acquisitive prize awarded every three years. This year’s theme is  “TEXT” – examining the role of text in art.  Finalists include: Vernon Ah Kee (QLD), Jon Campbell (VIC), Katherine Hattam (VIC), Sarah CrowEST (VIC), Gordon Hookey (QLD), Rose Nolan (VIC) and Text Queen (VIC).


Getting to ArtSpace at REALM

Car Parking: First 3hrs free in Eastland - enter via Warrandyte Rd Gate 6, follow Valet Parking signage, and park on the left hand side. Come via Valet entry, take lift to level 3, following signs to Town Square.

Train: Belgrave or Lilydale Lines from Flinders Street or the City Loop. Disembark at Ringwood Station / Eastland Shopping Centre.
