Manningham Art Gallery
Manningham Art Gallery presents an eclectic program of contemporary art exhibitions that includes curated group exhibitions, shows by emerging and mid-career Victorian artists and touring exhibitions from interstate and state galleries.
Recognising the region's significance to the history of Australian pottery, the gallery regularly hosts exhibitions of work by celebrated Australian ceramic artists as well as the biennial Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award, which features work from across the state.
The Manningham Art Collection was formally established in 1994 with an aim to acquire predominantly locally significant artworks, which would represent the cultural and artistic heritage of the region.
Since then, the collection has been actively developed by commissioning several major outdoor sculptures and the establishment in 2009 of the biennial Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award. This Award celebrates the region’s long association with ceramics, stretching back to the Potter's Cottage artist community that operated from 1958 to 2004 and continuing to this day with the annual Warrandyte Ceramics Expo. As well as supporting ceramic studios across the state, the Award has enabled Manningham to acquire almost thirty works by significant Victorian ceramic artists including Vipoo Srivilasa, Tina Lee, Neville French, Vanessa Lucas, Petrus Spronk and Dean Smith.
