Shepparton Art Gallery (SAM)
Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) has an active exhibitions program that includes curated, local community and touring exhibitions, inspiring an engaging public program and educational activities.
SAM has one of Australia's most important collections of historical and contemporary ceramics, being the home of the biennial Sidney Myer Fund Australian Ceramic Award and Indigenous Ceramic Art Award, along with significant holdings of Australian art in all media.
SAM’s collection represents the cultural aspirations of one of Australia’s important regional cities. It includes important Australia works from colonial times to the present, and nationally significant holdings of ceramics and contemporary art.
Today SAM focuses on collecting Australian art in all media (including ceramics), with a focus on contemporary and Indigenous Australian art. Recent acquisition highlights include work by Tony Albert, Greg Creek, Brent Harris, Pat Brassington, Richard Lewer, Sam Jinks, Dale Frank and Fiona Foley.

The SAM Shop
The SAM shop is a fantastic place to purchase artist-made ceramics and gifts. The shop stocks work by a number of local and interstate artists including Bern Emmerichs, Kaye Poulton, Mary-Lou Pittard, Sandra Bowkett, Angie Russi and Emily Green. It features the best of Australian art, craft and design while supporting some of the region’s best artistic talent.
The shop also stocks a range of publications, including SAM exhibition catalogues, books on Australian ceramics and other arts, and a range of art magazines.
Free gift-wrapping is provided and gift vouchers are available.
Getting to the Gallery
Located 180km north east of Melbourne. Estimated travel time is approximately 2hrs by car or train.
Free parking is available on Marungi Street (at the rear of the SAM building).
