TarraWarra Museum of Art
TarraWarra Museum of Art and its collection is a gift from Eva Besen AO and Marc Besen AO to the people of Australia, making it the first significant privately funded public art museum in the country. The TarraWarra Museum of Art Limited was established as a company limited by guarantee in October 2000. The museum is a not-for-profit institution, with a charter to display Australian art from the second half of the twentieth century to the present day. The Besen Family Foundation is the museum’s principal sponsor. The museum opened to the public in 2003. The award-wining building was designed by architect Allan Powell.
